Who you are buying from

A small UK team, a fleet of Bambu Lab printers, and componentry chosen because it lasts rather than because it was cheap. Nothing here takes away rights you have under UK consumer law.

What you are getting

A machine built to the specification you choose, based on TempestMAx’s open-source OSR2 and SR6 designs and modified heavily over five years of building them. Printed parts are made to order in your colours, and because each machine is assembled by hand, slight variations in finish are characteristic of the process rather than a defect.

You need to be 18 or over to buy. These are for personal use by adults.

Ordering and prices

An order is a request to buy, and becomes a contract once it is confirmed and payment taken. Prices are in pounds and include UK tax where it applies. Where an item is listed at an obviously incorrect price, you will be told before anything is charged.

Import duty and local taxes outside the UK are down to you, though most countries charge none on these parcels and any charge is reduced, around £10–25 at most. The US charge is paid by me, and Germany and Luxembourg have theirs prepaid in the delivery price (see the shipping page).

How long it takes

Most orders go out within about a week, and a tracking link follows either way. During periods of high demand it can stretch by another week at the outside. Nine times out of ten it is within a week and a half.

Returns

Machines are built to order, so they are not sold on approval. In the unlikely event that one does not perform as it should, the returns page sets out what happens.

Using it safely

These are powered machines with moving parts. Operate them as documented: keep hair and loose clothing clear of the linkage, mount the unit securely before use, and power it from a supply that matches the stated specification. An out-of-specification supply is the single most common cause of damage to a machine and to the electronics inside it.

Responsibility for how a machine is used rests with its owner. No liability is accepted for injury, loss or damage arising from modification, misuse, unattended operation, or use outside the documented specification. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not permit to be limited.

Wear and service life

Servos, gears, bearings and belts are wearing parts. Service life is a function of load, duty cycle and care: a machine run within its stated payload, at sensible speeds, and maintained as documented will last years. One run continuously at maximum against a heavy load will not. Wear consistent with use is expected behaviour rather than a fault — the returns page sets out where that line sits, and replacement parts for every wearing component stay on the accessories page.

Treat the machine as the precision mechanism it is and it will hold its tolerances. The maintenance guides set out what to check and when.

Studio and firmware

Studio is free to use with your machine, in Chrome or Edge on a computer. A flashing code is for your own unit: it works for 3 days, on one unit, so please do not share it. Units on 3.4.0 or later update without one.

Keep the unit plugged in while firmware is being written. If a write is ever cut short, run it again — Studio can always put the firmware back, and a code is yours for the asking if it needs one.

The machine is open source and completely yours to do with as you like, including running other firmware. Support covers Custom vESP Firmware v3; Studio can put it back on at any time. Please do not try to get around the codes or overload the firmware server.

Whose work is whose

The underlying OSR2 and SR6 designs and the T-code motion firmware are TempestMAx’s open-source work, used and modified under their licence — full credit where it is due. Custom vESP Firmware v3 (the screens, WiFi set-up and Studio), the photography, renders and writing on this site are ours.

Law

England and Wales, and the courts there. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings where you are.
