Payment
Payment help
Every way you can pay, what happens to your details, and what to do when the usual routes do not suit where you are.
Ways to pay
Checkout runs on Shopify Payments: card, wallet and instalment options, handled to the same standard as any major storefront.
If none of the routes below suit where you are, there are others — and in some cases they work out cheaper.
Payment method
Four routes, in the order most people use them.
Pay with a card
Visa, Mastercard and Discover, entered at checkout and taken immediately. Between them they cover almost every card in circulation.
The number is entered on Shopify’s checkout rather than on this site, and is never passed back to us. If a charge needs tracing, your card issuer holds detail that we do not.
Pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Shop Pay
The quickest route by some distance if you already have one set up: no card number to type, no account to create, and the address comes across with it.
Shop Pay additionally remembers your details for next time and carries your order into the Shop app for tracking. It is a convenience, not a requirement — nothing about the purchase depends on having it.
Pay in instalments
Shop Pay and Klarna both split the cost at checkout on orders over £50, which covers every machine and most sets of parts. The option appears when you pay — there is nothing to arrange beforehand.
Approval, the schedule and any interest sit entirely with them. A decline is their decision rather than ours, and every other method here stays open either way.
More ways to pay
Card is not the only way, and not every country makes it straightforward. PayPal, Wise and bank transfer all work. They sit outside the checkout, so they are arranged directly.
Often cheaper
Bank transfer and Wise carry no card processing fee. Paying directly costs us less to take and costs you less to send, and that saving is genuinely worth asking about before you order — particularly on a full machine, or when paying from outside the UK.
It is how a good share of orders have been settled for years, long before this site existed, and it remains the friendliest route for both sides. If you would rather keep the cost down, say so and we will sort it between us.
The same goes for anything else around an order: the price itself, the customs or duty you would face where you live, or a shipping service other than the standard one. Say what you are up against and we will get it as cheap and as straightforward as it can be.
Security
Card details never touch this site. They are entered on Shopify’s checkout and handled by them end to end. What reaches us is confirmation that a payment succeeded, an amount, and the address to ship to — never a card number, and never anything that could be charged again.
This site is static files with no database and no login, so there is no store of customer data on it to lose. Order information lives in Shopify, and what is kept and for how long is set out in the privacy notice.
Questions
- When am I charged?
- Once, at checkout. Nothing is taken before that and there is no deposit — the machine is built after the payment clears.
- What appears on my bank statement?
- A neutral trading name, never the product. Nothing on the statement, the parcel or the paperwork indicates what was bought — the privacy notice sets out exactly what that looks like.
- Which currency am I charged in?
- Pounds sterling. If your card is in another currency your bank converts at its own rate, and may add a small fee of its own — worth checking if you are close to a budget.
- My payment was declined.
- That decision sits with your bank, and no reason is passed on to us. A different card or wallet usually goes through; if none of them do, get in touch and we will find another way.
- Do you keep my card details?
- No. They never reach this site in the first place — see Security below.
Shipping costs and customs are set out on the shipping policy, and once an order is on its way the tracking page covers where it is.
